A nostalgic look back at King City 1868 - turn of the century. King City was a young town heavily heaped in the western culture of ranching and farming. That western lifestyle and culture is saluted with music from Aaron Coplands' Rodeo
The importance of Education played a part of this lifestyle. King City's first school began in a storehouse on the corner of North Second and Broadway. Later a two room schoolhouse was built in 1890s and stood where City Hall now stands. Other pioneer schools Bitterwater Tully School 1897, Mission School Soledad 1897, La Gloria Gonzales 1873. Children learned games like 'kick the can', 'jumping', 'throwing rope' and 'hop scotch'. Many learned the alphabet and numbers by stitching - a must skill to make and mend clothes.
